ACCC Says They Don't Want Cannabis Money

The Angels Camp City Council said they don’t want cannabis money. The council voted this week to reject a $60,000 donation from the Calaveras Cannabis Alliance. The money would have been earmarked for a student resource officer at Bret Harte High School. The donation was rejected because,  even though Prop 64 legalized marijuana in California, marijuana is still considered a controlled substance by the federal government. That may or may not create a problem for a small city like Angels Camp, but the council ultimately decided to decline the donation.
