Plymouth Votes In New Mayor And Looks At City Finances

The Plymouth City Council has voted in a new mayor for the year, looked at city finances and continues its search for a new city manager. Meeting last night, the council voted unanimously to appoint Leonard Burns as Mayor and Keith White as Vice Mayor. Both men were voted onto the city council in November of 2016. Later, the council examined city finances, first hearing a report from the city auditor, who pronounced the city finances in generally good shape, but also warned that potential fiscal downturn could be looming. The council also reviewed financial reports from the first half of the fiscal year. A search for a new city manager continues. The position has been widely advertised both state-and nation-wide and have received ten applicants already. The city plans to invite the top candidates to an interview panel that consists of professionals from outside the city, and the panel will recommend the final candidates to the city council for a final interview and selection.
