Volunteers Needed For The Senior Tax Program

Volunteers Needed For The Senior Tax Program

Volunteers are needed for the Amador County Senior Tax Program. For the past 25 plus years, free tax services have been available in Amador County. Beginning in December, orientation classes will begin for new prospective volunteers. In January, training will continue, which will include discussion of tax law, the scope of the tax-aide program and the practical application of providing the tax services. While there are about a dozen volunteers returning from last year, new volunteers are needed. If you are interested in helping people, have a modest grasp of numbers and the basic skills of working with a computer, this program may be for you. The December orientation classes are on December 9, 11, and 12. The training begins on the week of January 13, and generally lasts for about four days. During the tax year, your commitment is one to two days a week, ending the week of April 15. If you want more information about the program or are interested in volunteering, please call Al Bierce at 267-0855 or Rick Spreckel at 296-2771.
