Residential Structure Fire In Camanche Village

Fire crews rolled to a reported structure fire in the Camanche Village early Saturday morning. According to Ione Fire Chief Ken Mackey, fire fighters were dispatched just after 6, to the home on Duck Creek Road. First units on the scene were from the Jackson Valley Fire District, and found heavy fire showing from the front of the house and attic area. An aggressive exterior attack was made due to obvious signs of structural weakening and crews were able to contain the fire to the building without spreading to the wild land areas surrounding the fire. Fire crews remained on scene into the afternoon watching for hotspots. The loss was estimated at close to $280,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious in nature. Agencies assisting the Jackson Valley Fire District were: City of Ione Fire, Mule Creek Fire, City of Jackson Fire, Sutter Creek Fire, Buena Vista Fire Dept. CAL FIRE Sutter Hill, Amador Sheriff’s, American Legion Ambulance and PG&E.
