Fall Is Here!

Fall is officially here but that doesn’t mean the wildfire threat is over.  As temperatures begin to cool across the Mother Lode, fire officials are reminding residents that California’s wildfire season doesn’t follow the calendar. Some of the state’s most destructive wildfires have happened during the fall months, making wildfire preparedness a year-round priority.  Officials are urging residents to take a few simple steps now before an emergency happens.  Clear and maintain defensible space around your home, know more than one evacuation route from your neighborhood and community, and put together a go-bag with the essentials your family would need to leave quickly.  And make sure you’re signed up for local emergency alerts so you can get critical information when a wildfire or other emergency threatens your area.  The message is simple: don’t wait for the next wildfire to think about preparedness. Fall may be here, but the wildfire threat isn’t gone.
