New Principal For Ione Elementary
The Amador County Unified School District has announced, pending approval by the school board, the appointment of Jason Sabbagh as the new principal of Ione Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. District officials say Sabbagh was selected following a competitive interview process that included a panel of Ione Elementary staff members and a final interview with the district's cabinet. Sabbagh brings 19 years of experience in education to the position. Throughout his career, he has served as an English teacher, Yearbook Editor, English Learner Coordinator, Intervention Specialist, Extended Day Program Coordinator, Teacher-in-Charge, and most recently as a TK-through-8th grade Assistant Principal. District leaders say those experiences have given Sabbagh a strong understanding of students' academic, social, and emotional needs and have prepared him to lead Ione Elementary with a student-centered approach. Until Sabbagh officially begins his new role, Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Dr. Sadie Hedegard and Director of Child Development Jeni De Walt will work together to support the school and help ensure a smooth start to the new academic year. The district says it looks forward to Sabbagh's leadership as Ione Elementary continues to support staff, empower students, and focus on student success.
